Not every book requires a developmental or structural edit.

If needed, this editing should be done early in the publication process, before getting too deep into fine-tuning words, sentences, or grammar.

I read content with the audience in mind, looking at flow, organization, structure, focus, and more. This editing gives the author high-level feedback on the shape of the story.

Line editing is a more intensive edit that focuses on the flow of ideas, transitional elements, tone, and style.

I will go line by line through the entire manuscript to correct awkward constructions, fix redundancies, and make suggestions to the narrative, structure, style, and vocabulary.

I will also address grammar usage, typos, and spelling errors, along with grammatical, linguistic, and syntactical errors.

Proofreading is a final edit of a formatted manuscript.

I will look for typos, spelling errors, and layout issues such as a hyphen in the middle of a word and sentences that aren’t lined up on the page or indented correctly.

By this point, the book has gone through a more thorough editing process, and this is a final check before publishing.
